The Maternal Mortality Review Committee Establishment Act of 2018 (DC Law 22-111) became effective on June 5, 2018. Immediately following, recruitment for members commenced, leading to their official swearing in on May 9, 2019. Comprising of twenty-five (25) members, the first case review meeting was held on September 24, 2019. The DC MMRC conducts a systematic, multi-agency, multi-disciplinary review of pregnancy-related or pregnancy-associated deaths within the District using a non-judgmental life course approach.
