The Florida Maternal Mortality Review Committee (Florida MMRC),formerly known as the Pregnancy-Associated Mortality Review (PAMR), first convened in 1996. The committee currently has 25 members, meets quarterly, and reviews all pregnancy-related cases as well as a sample of pregnancy-associated cases. In 2021, cases from 2020 were reviewed. Florida had 209,645 live births and 44 pregnancy-related deaths. The Florida MMRC mission is to increase awareness of the issues surrounding pregnancy-related deaths and to promote change among individuals, communities, and health care systems in order to reduce the number of deaths.
