The Oregon Maternal Mortality and Morbidity Review Committee was established in 2018, convened in 2019 for two in-person introductory meetings, and began reviewing cases in 2020 using a virtual platform. Per Oregon Statute, the committee will consist of a minimum of 11 to a maximum of 15 members. The Oregon MMRC meets at least every other month depending on the number of cases and reviews all pregnancy-associated cases. In 2019, Oregon had 41861 live births and four pregnancy related deaths. Our mission is to identify and review pregnancy-associated deaths, review those caused by pregnancy complications and other associated causes, identify the factors contributing to these deaths and recommend public health and clinical interventions that may reduce future deaths and improve systems of care.
